It’s Worth a Try
Can we eliminate past sin
or forgive our own transgressions?
Does forgiveness just begin
with grace, after our confessions?
Perhaps we can balance the scale
doing acts of random kindness.
But, if these kindly actions fail,
how do we put guilt behind us?
A pledge to practice good intent
to all of our fellow creatures
is a one-sided covenant
with many redeeming features.
Yet, no matter how good we are
sins and transgressions leave a scar.
