It’s How We Play the Game
Writing beyond the comfort zone
the poet has to work alone.
We can’t have a supporting crew
to tell us the poem is through.
We poets have to realize,
usually with some surprise,
another line would be too much;
the inner muse is out of touch.
On the other hand, writer’s block
doesn’t come calling or to knock.
I always have something to say
for poems are the way i play.
Since i am only having fun,
it’s easy to know when i‘m done.
