The Rocky Road to Paradise
There is something which
i have intuitively recognized,
and tried to express
in my poems;
that we are each a part
of something much greater
than our individual selves.
     Our addictions to
our physical existence,
and our sensory experience,
inclines us to cling to
the idea that our bodies
are the totality of ourselves.
     Transcendentalism has been
the path which leads us
to a higher recognition
of cosmic consciousness.
     When we become aware
of a communal existence,
we begin to recognize love
as a societal necessity.
     This path is a treadmill;
a Sisyphean endeavor.
Rewards, punishments, and justice
are concepts now outdated.
They are the rocks
we try to push over the hill.
     If we can leave these rocks behind
we can climb over the mountain.
