Minor Transgressions
Do you have to apologize
for sins you haven’t committed?
And do you have to recognize
the ones you have admitted?
Sometimes our simple transgressions
are not worthy of confessions.
When the priest asks if it was fun,
you wonder what the priest has done.
Do the rewards and punishments
ever make any kind of sense?
You talked with God, and heard him say,
“You were a naughty boy today.”
Naughty doesn’t sound very bad
considering the fun you had.
