Warm and Friendly People
Are these people friends, or strangers,
full of hopes, and dreams, and angers?
Do we really love each other
with deep concern, like a mother?
Here, where four hundred people live,
is there coldness we can’t forgive?
Is this more like a hermitage
than an old-fashioned warm village?
I think it would be mighty grand
if each of us could understand
how much we all need each other
and new friends we could discover.
It is not such a sacrifice–
come out of hiding; break the ice.
Icebreaking
When i ask what their hobbies are
some people say that goes too far.
“None of your business” they say,
as if i’d asked them how they pray.
I think such people should have learned
we are not nosy but concerned.
I wear my heart upon my sleeve
telling people what i believe.
People obcessed wth privacy
don’t understand people like me.
There is nothing i won’t discuss,
including dreams of all of us.
I hope nothing i’ve said offends
I am always looking for friends.
