The Next Time Is Now
When the march of time was barefoot
and the past refused to stay put
the past and future seemed to meet;
the present, like now, would repeat.
If it ever happens again,
like Emily Dickinson’s train;
we don’t think, but know we will
continue climbing up the hill.
The punishment of Sisyphus
wasn’t designed to bother us.
We know it’s a matter of pluck
rather than chance or only luck.
So, take a deep breath–hold it in.
That is the only way to win.
