A Southern Accent

These days we have sirloin steak

I suppose it’s easy to make.

Most days it’s sort of tough.

Seldom do i get enough.

As my eternal hope springs,

we will get many new things.

Fresh Crowder or black-eyed peas

could be the first among these.

We are grateful for what we get.

and hope springs eternal yet.

Perhaps Mexican cornbread

is waiting and just ahead.

You can tell i am from the south

whenever i open my mouth.
