Remember the Days
I remember life on the farm
as having a bucolic charm.
It was rustic and all of that
but keep this under your hat:
We had to avoid bullshit
and try not to step in it.
It was squishy between our toes
and it irritated our nose.
The natural beauty we found
was accompanied by much sound.
Roosters were trained to let us know
it was time to get up and go.
We were soaked in our own sweat.
Rusty or rustic? We forget.
