The Reluctant Id

Somewhere in our subconscious mind

the id lurks and it’s hard to find.

There may be such a self in me.

It is, but reluctant to be.

The id may have wants and desires

which the more conscious self requires.

Both selves are a part of me.

The id is so, reluctantly.

There may be something which we did

which the id aspires to be hid.

But, there is a conscience somewhere

which believes the id ought to care.

If both of ourselves become elves

it’s because the conscience rebells.
