It May Rhyme but it’s Free

Is meaning given purpose by nonsense,

or is it only a guilty conscience?

Memoirs may only be made-up stories

instead of meaningful allegories.

Short, rhyming verses similar to mine

are simply written like a valentine.

Whereas, a long, twisted philosophy

is written in a verse which we call free.

Many poems being written today

are composed in this non sensible way.

These are long lines without any free verse.

Shorter lines couldn’t be any worse.

If written by you or composed by me;

can any of it be real poetry?
