Waiting for a Better Job
You must hurry up and wait;
burn your hands on a hot plate,
receive the minimum wage,
and start at a younger age.
You share your tips with the boss
and can’t afford dental floss.
They work you like a mule
and you are still in high school.
At the top of your career
you may become a cashier.
You won’t get any more pay
than you are getting today.
A few kind words and a smile
can make it all seem worth while.
