The Signs of Times

I am losing my memory

of the twentieth century;

at first, i wasn’t even born;

my halo wasn’t ever worn.

That never did get me down.

Now i wear it like a crown.

For some eighty years or more

our nations have been at war.

In the twenty-first century

i am always getting dizzy.

I am falling down too much

and getting deep bruises and such.

I hope that my eternity

will not be this painful for me.
