But What is it?

If a cosmic consciousness

attempts to be meaningless,

poems do not have to be

meaningful and true to me.

If nonsense has a good sound

that is where the truth is found.

The reader must dig it out

to know what it’s about.

Perhaps imagination

means more than education.

Truth doesn’t have to be real;

but more like something we feel.

Our nonsense as we know it

is what makes us a poet.
