Thus Spoke the Towers
In the wee morning hours
he could see radio towers
and the radio by the bed
told him what the towers said.
As if the towers spoke to him
he lay and listened to them.
Soon he would need to arise
and listen to the rooster’s cries.
He couldn’t go back to sleep
although he was counting sheep.
Why couldn’t he work at night
so he could enjoy daylight?
And then the radio said,
“It’s time to get out of bed.”
