A Gold Mine in a Well
In reading and writing poetry
we find nuggets of golden thoughts.
If some are crudely expressed
we get a thrill from the rest.
If crude thoughts touch our heart
everyone can’t be that smart.
Sophisticated thoughts may be
much too esoteric for me.
Poets all drink from the same well
of wisdom; with something to tell.
What they say has been modified
so the poet is satisfied.
Satisfied is not quite enough
praise for the most exciting stuff.
