A Simple Retort

We can never be alone

if tied to a telephone.

Like a chain around our neck

we’re tied to a stranger’s beck.

Most likely a recorder;

and i cannot afford her.

They all have the same plea:

“Give all your money to me.”

I don’t know why we should pay

to listen to what they say.

They will not listen to me.

They think i’m a money tree.

If they won’t leave me alone

I hang up my telephone.
