The Concept of Spirit

Is our spirit misunderstood

or not recognized as we should?

I think our spirits should be

the hope of immortality?

Our bodies will die and decay.

Do our spirits go the same way?

All of us disagree so far

on what our spirits really are.

What most people seem to believe

i find it hard to conceive.

They think the self is physical,

not as something more spiritual.

They think body is all there is.

I am unable to think like this.

I think each creature is a part

of a larger spiritual heart.

That makes me think eternity

is not going to end for me.

A thought, emotion, or ideal

is intangible but real.

A lack of imagination

about ourselves or creation;

is like being already dead.

I choose eternity instead.
