The Tree of Knowledge
If i hear, “I’ll know when i die”
I want to ask “I wonder why?”
How can my death enlighten me?
I simply have to disagree.
Dead people don’t know any more
than living people did before.
Our death is not a Christmas tree
with gifts of knowledge just for me.
Some people seem to be adept
at making statements we accept.
I can’t believe veracity
is growing on a knowledge tree.
The truth is as blind as a bat.
Do you remember who said that?
