Not an Idol but Ideal

He worshiped God religiously

but i love it differently.

I don’t think of God as Him

or as a multiple – like Them.

As an idea or ideal

my God seems to me more real.

It is something i can love

and think very highly of.

It’s with me every day

and not only when i pray.

It is not somewhere above

but everywhere there is love.

It’s not a traditional myth

but a spirit i live with.
