What Holds Us Together?

Does my mortal life even try

to stop the world as it goes by?

No! The world goes on forever

but we do not live together.

To stop the world and let me go

to a distant world i don’t know

could be a real consolation

worthy of negotiation.

But the world has no time for me.

It has another destiny.

I can’t step off, but if i jump

i’m afraid i’ll land on my rump.

I am stuck for eternity.

The world is also stuck with me.
