My Less Serious Friend

Inside my quotidian days

i also have an elf who plays.

He is my less serious side

where imagination can’t hide.

The chances are very slim

life would be fun without him.

I don’t want to deprive myself

of this constant companion elf.

Life is a play in which i act.

The elf is the real star, in fact.

His burden of philosophy

is just a lot of fun for me.

Perhaps i meditate a lot

but the friendly elf does not.
