Born to Live

Swelling the hours of the day

until tomorrow goes away

and the past i live in now

is an unseen purple cow.

Until nonsense goes away

i can hear a small voice say,

“You shouldn’t ever forget

the future hasn’t got here yet.“

Tomorrow is a memory

of what is happening to me.

Now you may have also learned

what we get is what we’ve earned.

You may not even get that.

I only hope i don’t get fat.
