A Love of Understanding

The first thing that happened to me

on my first day of infancy;

i was slapped on my behind.

This new world seemed to be unkind.

I couldn’t understand this world

into which i had been hurled.

But now! Ninety-one years hence;

i understand – it’s nonsense.

Logic and consistency

are both just nonsense to me.

I have acquired a new heart

after that ridiculous start.

I have now become conscious of

a world in which nonsense is love.
