Inchoate Means Unripe

An inchoate promise is

an idea that looks like this;

a thought which is beginning,

a theory which is winning.

Our theories must start somewhere.

Perhaps with ideas we share.

Or, maybe, on a lonely quest.

No one is sure which is best.

While we’re looking for the truth

we waste the years of our youth.

It is after we are old

that mature theories unfold.

So what does inchoate mean?

Young enough to still be green.
