Out of the Umbral* Dark

That umbral black hole in the sky,

always obscured from you and i,

may be hidden from God itself

but not from an imagined elf.

Our imaginations may be

the ultimate dark mystery.

Where the light never chose to go

is a hidden force we don’t know.

Though it doesn’t have a new name

it is powerful just the same.

I wonder if God can forgive

the darkness wherein we must live.

Can i even forgive myself

for harboring this hidden elf?
