Lost Pie in the Sky

To celebrate the ancient bards

who the hinge of history guards

we often lose the sense of time

as well as the meter and rhyme.

Modern poets have realized

such traditions must be excised

and now obscurity prevails

in nonsensical fairy tales.

Bill Shakespeare never existed

the modern poets insisted.

Now that post-modern has arrived

how much poetry has survived?

It has gone thru many stages

and there aren’t many sages.
