A Sellable Rhyme

I thought i could write a poem

which didn’t have rhyme or meter

but how would anyone know’em

without any meaning either?

That is what some people have said:

“A non-rhyming poem is dead.”

Now free verse is the newest style

and will live for a little while.

The poems people used to read

have evaporated indeed,

but as long as people can sing,

the rhymed poems keep happening.

Whether it is song or a verse,

commercial jingles may be worse.
