Was, Is, and Will Always Be

All of us are trying to find

an explanation of some kind

to understand why we are here

and why our bodies disappear.

Some people now think that we are

just dust from an exploded star.

But that’s no explanation of

intangible concepts like love.

We all have some consciousness

of strange ideals like happiness.

Creation is also a myth

many people are obsessed with.

Such fables must always depend

on a beginning and an end.

Suppose eternity is true

which weird people like me can do.

That doesn’t explain the life force

nor imagination of course.

Perhaps it is and was designed

by an eternal and godlike mind.

We may each be part of the whole

with a small but important role,

continuing to wonder why

the soul lives but our bodies die.
