All of us Are Needy

We can justify human greed

by all of the things which we need.

But, none of us needs very much

beyond understanding and such.

The cash register doesn’t ring

for any intangible thing.

And yet, nobody ever steals

our love, our hopes, and our ideals.

Think about what we value most,

like peanut butter and cheese toast.

Naw, we really do not need those

nor ornaments, nor fancy clothes.

What we need is to discover

how much we all need each other.
