Wild Birds Heard Him Pray

He walked while praying one night

guided by a pale moonlight.

Birds he heard along the way

stopped singing to hear him pray.

What a canary abhors

is spending the night outdoors.

instead of a gilded cage

which he uses as a stage.

Only the wild birds are free

to sing in wild ecstasy.

And so he enjoyed his walk

listening to wild birds talk.

The man who was walking was me

and the birds are a memory.
