A Love Story

Before there was anything

a potential existed

as an intangible thing

and so God was invented.

And this was a Great Spirit.

None there to see or hear it.

With no other consciousness,

how could it find happiness?

Therefore, it thought about love,

which others could be made of.

Next it invented the tao

which makes it all work somehow.

Its loneliness could be solved

if other creatures were evolved.

Eternity was static

without basement or attic.

Heaven or hell had to wait;

something else to contemplate.

If divine intelligence

doesn’t make a lot of sense,

this is a made-up story

just one more allegory.

But eternity is real

and is a really big deal.
