To The Doctor
Since you are sure to ask
i will undertake the task
of telling you how i feel.
I don’t feel sick at all.
All my ailments are small,
but my chronic pains are real.
My shingles comes and goes,
lumbar stenosis grows,
feel frostbitten in my toes.
Diabetes of course
can get nowhere but worse;
the source of most of my woes.
I want it understood
i basically feel good.
Thank gods whoever you are.
Perhaps i’m wearing out
because of age, no doubt,
but i can still read so far.
Right eye makes things slim,
printed letters are dim:
Macular degeneration.
I need a prescription for shoes
and which retailers i can use
at Medicare’s obligation.
Diarrhea is still here;
a chronic pain i fear,
and i wish it would disappear.
I guess i should stop here
and stop bending your ear
unless newer pains appear.
P.S. Authorization to Lab Corps
which my insurance will pay for.
