some limericks

some limericks have five lines

some of them are valentines

where i love you

won’t always do

but have more humorous signs

the goblins swept down from the sky

and gobbled our blueberry pie

their hunger abated

they just sat and waited

because they were too full to fly

diaries–a treacherous thing

disclose what has been happening

but a journal can say

not only what did but may

which can make the optimist sing

when rolling down a mountain side

lava seems like a red hot tide

smoke gets in your eyes

then you realize

the earth is too big for its size

whenever you get the shingles

it always itches and tingles

there are painful stitches

underneath your britches

where the itching and pain mingles

he thinks he is too busy

but how busy is he

what could be stranger

than a paper hanger

who has hives which are itchy
