Poise vs Noise

Combine art with intelligence

and beauty is the consequence.

A feeling of ice in the spine

can shiver a body like mine.

“It takes off the top of my head”

Emily Dickinson once said.

All of us react to a phrase

in a variety of ways.

We think of poetry as an art

which is both beautiful and smart.

Even nonsense can have its place

and is often composed with grace.

But what about verses like mine?

They fade away in the sunshine.
