A Jug of Wine and Now

The landscape of poetry now

has forgotten the purple cow.

Nonsense has now become obscure

and a lot harder to endure.

I don’t know what they want to hide

or why rhyming is now denied.

Perhaps there is nothing unique

in the new academic clique

except most readers don’t like it

no matter how much they write it.

You wonder where the readers went?

They are hiding in Omar’s tent

where philosophy is still fun

with poetry read by ev’ryone.
