Distant Neighbors

Somewhere nearby a distant sun

may be a planet like this one.

All its inhabitants may be

far more intelligent than we.

In a parallel universe

conditions may be a lot worse

than anything on our own Earth

where we were lucky in our birth.

Is it by grace of God that we

go from here to eternity?

Does the Great Spirit also love

those creatures who are far above?

Perhaps they have no evidence

of a divine intelligence.
