pain relievers

what would insensors be

the opposite of

sensitivity

there would be

no more pain

disability

on the other hand

we couldn’t understand

our touch, feel, or sight

would go to sleep at night

hearing and taste also might

be diminished as well

as our sense of smell

how much should we pay

to keep the pain away

the cost in mental stress

and loss of happiness

may be much too much

for drugs, alcohol, and such

let’s keep our wonder and awe

even if pain is a flaw

the gods have a master plan
