Poems Are Not Logical

It is easy to make things rhyme

using slant rhymes some of the time.

But, to make sense is different

and isn’t always evident.

If you are purposely obscure

it means you are an amateur.

If you don’t know how to say it,

it’s a game–you shouldn’t play it.

The readers are not always fools

who attend the poetry schools.

These readers may all disappear

if the poems are never clear.

Making rhymes is easy enough.

I never learned this other stuff.
