Conundrums and Solutions

Chitinous; transparent but thick,

a scabby sort of maverick,

grown on an insect’s mid-section,

a scab to prevent infection.

What is the use of such a word?

That is why it is seldom heard.

Every word must have its place

and be easy to erase.

While poets may look for a rhyme,

they make them up most of the time.

These conundrums are hard to solve.

That is why new words evolve.

I’ve made up a few myself

and blamed them on an inner elf.
