Conscientious Objection
I thought i fought in a good war
more needed than ones before.
But, now, after seventy years
i am not sure how it appears.
It is always the young who die
and the widows who have to cry.
It’s only the establishment
who profit from the armament.
The politicians make the laws
which make war seem like a good cause.
They cheer for the young fighting man
who kills as many as he can.
All of us should be unwilling
to indulge in war and killing.
