Good and Good for Us

Sometimes we appreciate

the things we anticipate

more than realization,

with this qualification:

We no longer have a goal

to bring comfort to our soul.

All of us need a purpose

to keep from being nervous.

Maybe we should realize

it’s the popcorn not the prize

which makes Cracker Jack so good;

the prizes are made of wood.

Wooden nickels are just toys

to bribe little girls and boys.
