Lurking Genes and Mimes
Perhaps a new friend of a friend
becomes a soul-mate in the end.
There could always be that danger
when introduced to a stranger.
You extend a friendly greeting
but find the strangeness retreating.
Growing familiarity
finds “Why, he is so much like me.”
Our differences disappear,
similarities become clear.
For, after all, under the skin
we all find a kinship within.
When introduced we should beware
of finding ourselves lurking there.
