The Beam in my Eye
By what method could i refine
these simplistic verses of mine?
They sound too much like a jingle
where rhyming and nonsense mingle.
I see published poems today
which seem to have nothing to say.
Altho they may say it well
they’re like the ringing of a bell;
Imitating monotony
without any syntax to me.
And yet i have to realize
it is easy to criticize
when my own verses seem trite
and less sensible than they might.
