Attitude

Should i be grateful for my life

full of privilege, without strife?

Every night before i sleep

there is this ritual i keep:

I thank whatever gods may be

for giving this good life to me.

And then, i think of the others,

all my less fortunate brothers.

Should my prayers be in reverse,

or would that attitude be worse?

Is my attitude, more or less,

the reason for my happiness?

Or is it a by-product of

my practice of brotherly love?
