Sound or Sense
Should poetry have a purpose
or be like a three-ring circus?
I think it can be neither, or both,
or only a sound which is quoth.
Quoth the raven doesn’t make sense
or keep anyone in suspense.
It will keep saying nevermore
as if it has said this b4.
A raven is a kind of crow
but is a larger blackbird though.
Edgar Poe got away with it
even tho it was just bullshit.
Lewis Carroll once used burple
and Burgess’s cow was purple.
