beyond the event horizon

a slithering more than a slide

inertia overcoming gravity

and on the edge of a black hole

the rooster crowed and wept.

creation never occurred

grieving toward a terminal grave

where the body leaves the spirit behind

to fester for eternity.

cremation may destroy all that

quickening the ascendance of the soul

and recycling bodies’ remains

to make a fertile ground for hope.

the future never arrives

reversing faulty expectations.
