Ode to Dirty Words
To find a use for “well-formed turds”
in a sonnet which is uncouth
is a novel use of the words
which do not always tell the truth.
But truth is not what we aspire
in shocking words which we admire.
Things about which we are in doubt
are hardly worth writing about.
Who can doubt that a purple cow
can raise up anyone’s eyebrow,
but her jumping over the moon
isn’t going to happen soon.
If my poems do not make sense,
it might not be incompetence.
