It’s In the Book
Let’s start with lesson number one
on how you can make your lives fun.
The first thing you will have to do
is to learn it is up to you.
Your attitude is yours alone;
You must control it on your own.
You have to learn how to relax
in the face of unwanted facts.
Got that? Well, here’s an example:
Some uncaring strangers trample
the garden you’re trying to grow.
This doesn’t make you angry though.
Now you have a new enemy
to love throughout etern
ity.

The following i wrote 17 years ago,
before i learned syntax is more
important than habit.

Deer Lover
This morning when I saw a deer
Who let me approach quite near
We both seemed glad to see each other
Mutual agape lover.
Can anyone not love a fawn
When first encountered on the lawn
Until you see the trail she’s beaten
In your garden which she’s eaten?
All your work and expectation
She has turned to devastation
And looks you gently in the eye
Says “we are lovers you and I.”
So you build your fences higher
Putting curbs on her desire
The fences make your love stay pure
And helps the garden to endure.
