The Best Job is No Job
Out of a past almost forgotten
i can remember picking cotton.
I thought “There must be a better way
to make my labor seem more like play.”
I quit farming and joined the navy
thinking i could see the world maybe.
That was better, but not good enough.
I got tired of discipline and stuff.
After seven years and World War Two
I looked for something better to do.
so i got into the printing trade
and sure enough i then had it made.
Then, finally, i became inspired;
what i like best is being retired.
