Shingles
Well now, i have found out
what these shingles are all about.
First, you will have some rashes which
become postules which pain and itch.
Then the pain seems to go down deep
and prevents your hiding in sleep.
It can last weeks, or perhaps years.
It goes away but reappears.
At least i was past eighty-nine
before this first session of mine.
It might help me if you should pray
that this durn stuff will go away.
Why did shingles happen to me?
Is it another allergy?
I’m not guilty of anything
which this disease is punishing.
I’ll let you know when it is gone
In the meantime, please carry on.
It cannot hurt you, if you pray
that you don’t get shingles some day.
